On July 21, the government of Bangladesh reinstated quota systems for government jobs.Sheikh Hasina made this decision in 2018, but the High Court passed this law in July. Students started protesting and holding demonstrations demanding reforms to the civil service quota system. As per the report, the Student Against Discrimination group, which was at the forefront of last month's job quota protests, is leading the latest demonstrations.
During this protest, at least 98 people were killed, and hundreds were injured after police used tear gas and rubber bullets on them. After this, students demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister. This violent act has marked one of the deadliest days in the history of Bangladesh's history.
The protests, which began last month, have affected the city and various airlines. Many flights to and from Dhaka have been canceled. Air India flights canceled the scheduled flight with immediate effect on Monday due to the critical situation in Bangladesh. One of the airline's officials said it operated the flight from Mumbai on Monday, and the situation is being monitored for operations to Dhaka on Tuesday.
According to the reporter, Air India canceled its morning flight to Dhaka and will decide later in the day whether to operate its evening flight to the Capital.
On speaking with Air India Spokesperson, they said that we have canceled the operating flights to Dhaka in view of the emerging situation in Bangladesh. We are continuously monitoring the situation and trying to support our passengers with confirmed bookings from travel to and from Dhaka with a one-time waiver on cancelations or rescheduling.
Due to the student protest against the quota system in Bangladesh, not only was the country affected, but the airlines and passengers also faced problems. Many airlines canceled flights, which affected the passengers' journey, and they could not reach their homes in Dhaka.
But for those conditions, many airlines have provided solutions to their passengers. If you have purchased the ticket but the flight gets canceled or rescheduled, then you can contact the airline's customer service representative or reach out to the refund section at the airport. You can submit the form to request a refund from the airline.
After applying for a refund, you will receive the money back in the original mode from which the payment was made. However, it is important to be informed about the refund rules and regulations.
